It has been HOT in Southern California.
Today we went a little inland to Irvine to Pretend City and when we got out to my car it read 105 degrees! Needless to say, we have been hitting the beach, wading pool and eating lots of banana ice cream and traditional ice cream to stay cool.
I got this ice cream ball for Christmas last year and finally put it to use.
I decided we should start off making vanilla and it was REALLY simple.
Ingredients:
1 pint of half and half
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1/3 cup + 2 tbsp of sugar
rock salt (I found this in Target)
First, add the half and half, sugar and vanilla into the center portion of the ball. Then you put the rock salt and ice in the opposite side of the ice cream ball. Then it is time to play for about 20 minutes with the ball. The key is to keep it moving. (Only hard part about making this was convincing my 2.5 year old to ROLL the ball instead of throwing it. On that note, I must say the ball is tough!)
