Pour yourself a cup of coffee and take 4 minutes to watch this performance by poet, Sarah Kay, entitled, "B". It begins with the phrase "If I should have a daughter..."and is filled with hope, advice, and love.
Kay performed this piece to open up her March 2011 TED talk. It became so popular that she made a book out of it.
I was given this little book as a gift by my friend, Krista. I have read and re-read this book a hundred times and have continued to be inspired by it. It's a short, but magical read; a beautiful exchange between a mother and her daughter.
For the rest of the TED talk click here. If you have twenty minutes to spare, I highly recommend it.
