This past weekend we went down to
Webb Ranch in Portola Valley for a family berry picking outing. We spent the morning filling our little green baskets (and our bellies!) with too many boysenberries, blackberries, olallieberries, and raspberries than we could count.
| Here is just a small sample of our bounty. |
| Blue skies, sunshine, and berries as far as the eyes could see. Excellent picking conditions. |
| Part of the picking team hard at work. |
| Olallieberries just asking to be picked. |
| Even the best pickers need a little break in the shade (and a few berries to help recharge) once and awhile. |
| June may not have been the most helpful berry picker, but at least she was an enthusiastic team member. |
| Because somebody has to pull the wagon.... |
We came home with buckets full of these delicious berries and have been reapin the benefits of this family adventure all week.
| Yum.... |
So far we have used some of our "treasures" in a mixed berry topping to accompany a homemade new york-style cheese cake (more to come on that soon, I promise), a batch of scones using
this easy and delicious recipe from one of my favorite food blogs,
Alexandra's Kitchen, and too many
smoothies to count.
What are some of your favorite ways to use summer berries? Please share!
xo.
