Making a Rock into a Keepsake

When we go to the beach my daughter, Lola, likes to look for "treasures".  She combs the beach for all things eye-catching and beautiful.  She has been known to fill buckets with these special trinkets.

On our last trip to the beach down in Half Moon Bay, I got in on the fun and brought my own treasure home with us.  I found the coolest rock ever.  I'm not sure what made all of these cool holes, but they were perfectly circular and completely awesome.

With minimal effort I made this cool rock into a fun centerpiece.  The large hole in the middle of the rock looked like it would hold a candle quite well.  Using a little candle wax to secure the candle in place, this holder was simple and easy to complete.

I am really psyched with how this little project turned out.  The beach that this rock came from is one of my favorites.  Now I have a little keepsake that will help me remember this special place for years to come.
