Happy President's Day! This weekend we gave the blog a little makeover. I wanted to give you a little run down of our newly renovated space.
Blog Before:
First on our list on changes was to give the banner some color and add a description.
Banner Before:

We did some work in Picnik and came up with our new banner. So happy to have kept the background image. I also love the addition of the tagline to clarify there are two authors and we are writing about things that inspire us in our daily lives.
Banner After:
Next up, we wanted to change up our labels. Labels are how we categorize our posts. At first we were really digging the jumbled look of our labels. However, the label section quickly started to take over the right hand column of the blog. We wanted the labels to be easy to navigate therefore, we scaled down our label section to four main topics that include: eat, make, play, pretty things.
Labels Before and After:
To make our new labels we used this amazing tutorial from adeylnSTONE on using pictures to make your own buttons.
How sassy is the picture of Lola? Love it!
After narrowing down our labels we also wanted to pair down our blog list. We decided divide the blogs into two categories: Daily Reads and Blogs We Love. Blogs we both read daily we kept on the right hand column and then added Blogs we Love under the banner at the top of the blog.
There are more changes we want to make to the blog. For example, we need a picture together for our "About Us" page. (Seriously, how ridiculous is it that we don't have a picture together?!) Overall, we are happy with our progress and have been having fun using the blog as a creative outlet.
We would love to hear from you! How do you like the changes? What do you think of the banner and buttons?
xoxo

I'm a new visitor via Dalton's interaction on LightsandLetters.com. I've been wanting to update my blog design too and appreciate that you shared your process here. I especially love the link to the button tutorial; I had been wondering how to do that. Thanks!
